Hello, world!
Hello, world!
For the longest time, I've been meaning to start a blog. I had the domain, the UI, and the content workflow set up ready to go for years. Well, I used a slew of different libraries and tools over the years, from no-code to all-code. So my "blog" was really just a personal test field for the evolution of blogging technologies. I mean, when I first started this portfolio site, I was using Bootstrap and jQuery. Go figure!
If you're curious, I'm now using Next.js with their built-in SSG support. I wrote some custom TypeScript that parses and renders md files at build time. I don't use any additional library or tool anymore other than what Next.js provides out of the box, which I found to be sufficient for my use case here.
But the problem is, I was always unsure of what to write about.
Tech, obviously, will be a big part of this blog. However, I hope to share my experiences outside of tech, too. Perhaps I'll write about what I'm reading, watching, listening to, or the places I'm traveling to.
I've been navigating a career move recently and things were pretty hectic for a while (Maybe I'll write about that?). All of that has more or less settled down now. So I thought, now is as good a time to start as ever.
To conclude my first ever blog post, I'm going to quote this "Chinese proverb" that I randomly see every once in a while on the internet, which I'm 99% sure is just another one of those made-up but harmless motivational one-liners. Either way, it seems apt for this moment.
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."
— Definitely not a Chinese proverb
I'm planting a tree today.
